Lead Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

If you’re an experienced Rails engineer who enjoys helping others get better as much as writing great code, this role was made for you. You’ll lead a small, talented engineering team while staying hands-on with the platform every week.
What you’ll do
- Lead and grow a team of 3–6 software engineers: run 1:1s and feedback sessions, and support each person’s professional and personal development
- Build your own team: run technical interviews, make the hiring decisions and onboard new engineers so they settle in quickly
- Be the go-to technical partner: review code, pair program and help the team work through tough problems
- Shape the architecture of the platform and help decide how it grows
- Build new features across the backend and the frontend
The tech stack
Ruby on Rails, RSpec, Capybara, PostgreSQL, JavaScript and Tailwind CSS
What you’ll bring
- 6+ years as a software engineer, ideally including time at Staff level
- In-depth knowledge of full-stack Ruby on Rails
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (ideally PostgreSQL), MVC frameworks and TDD
- Experience with REST APIs, HTML, CSS and modern JavaScript
- Some leadership experience.
- Strong communication skills and fluent English (C1+)
- A Bachelor-level way of working and thinking
